05/30/23. MVFD would like to inform the residents that Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services 911 have been receiving a large numbers of calls reporting odors of smoke in the Putnam County area. This condition has been largely do to the winds carrying the smoke from wildfires in the Canada area of Halifax / Nova Scotia. We ask that with this information you don’t call 911 just to report a slight odor of smoke. As always should you see large volumes of smoke or something that would be deemed a actual emergency, call 911 to report the incident.
